Arkansas legislators are reviewing the state's use of private contractors to run juvenile detention facilities. In November, Cornell Companies' contract to run the Alexander Youth Services Center was terminated after it was learned that facility employees administered anti-psychotic medications to children without physician consultation or prescription to control the unruly behavior of children as young as six.
The U.S. government is suing the state over conditions at the facility and a state police investigation is ongoing. More here.
