The birthday girl was accidentally instrumental to Barack Obama's rapid political rise. Back during his 2004 senate bid, Obama was facing formidable opposition in retired investment banker Jack Ryan. But Ryan was forced to drop out of the race when lurid accusations surfaced in connection with his 1999 divorce from actress Jeri Ryan. Jack Ryan was replaced by the oafish Alan Keyes who never stood a chance against the charismatic Democrat.
