Is that Delorus or Delores or Dolores? If M cannot spell her name correctly, M (whomever he or she may be) could be a dangerous psycho or a harmless buffoon. Another aspect of this soap opera could involve whether or not "D" knows M and how, if at all,she(?) feels about said M.

Well, certainly there is more (or less) than meets the eye to the melodrama at issue. We need to be judicious about how we characterize stalking, so as to protect all who may be innocent, while policing any who may be guilty. Unfortunately,it is difficult to "have it both ways" in a free society. As time and cultural change march onward; as privacy becomes an outdated ideal, we find ourselves, like puppies, chasing our own tails. Or, we can just stay at home and pursue electronic friendships---but those are dangerous, too---aren't they?

All of this commentary on a simple anonymous love(?) note on a sign at a gym?
