Rick Santorum’s support among Tea Party Republicans and white evangelicals is surging, and he now has pulled into a virtual tie with Mitt Romney in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. In polling conducted Feb. 8-12, 30% of Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters favor Santorum while 28% favor Romney. As recently as a month ago, Romney held a 31% to 14% advantage over Santorum among all GOP voters.
Santorum is now the clear favorite of Republican and GOP-leaning voters who agree with the Tea Party, as well as white evangelical Republicans. Currently, 42% of Tea Party Republican voters favor Santorum, compared with just 23% who back Romney. Santorum holds an almost identical advantage among white evangelical Republican voters (41% to 23%).
Bozos. The field that would challenge a president who, above all else, seems to be a decent man, is a field of bozos. I remember names like Romney, Santorum and Gingrich---they have history, and it continually amazes me that political machinery seeks to revise history to suit current fad and fashion. Some few of us do not forget. Some few of us don't give a fart about revisionism. I did not vote for BHO. But that was not because I thought he was a bozo.
I thought he was a decent man. Just not quite ready for the Presidency. Now then, I did not vote for George W. Bush either. Why? Because he was clearly a bozo. Still is---seems to me. (henh, henh----"that's my style"...part of a redacted quote from an earlier Bush comment.)
OUAT, I voted for Ron Paul. But he is too old now. And he cannot outspend the bozos. So, if I live long enough, I'll sit this one out.
It says a lot about a country that will vote for bozos. Nothing much good, I'm afraid.
