I received no emergency alerts for many months, but 3 in the past 8 days. On the 4th, we were in Michigan and got an amber alert for a kidnapping in Indiana. Last night, a severe storm warning woke us up.
This flood warning came in a few minutes ago.
There's no way we'll have a flash flood where we are. I've been in for Chicago decades, and I'm positive there hasn't ever been a flash flood where I am right now. Six miles south, yes. I got caught in one, almost trapped without an escape route back around 2000. There were floods in many locations that day, but there was no flood where I am now. Maybe these warning throw a really wide perimiter around the risk areas, but we won't have a flood here.
I'll update from the roof of my car if I'm wrong.
