I didn't know about Kevin Spacey reputation, but reports coming out suggest that many people did know. There's enough there to reasonably predict that his career is over.
And check out this clip of Uma Thurman commenting on the ongoing revelations of abuse in Hollywood.
Uma Thurman's response when asked about the flood of sexual misconduct allegations....wow. pic.twitter.com/Sw5Br1GwFg— Yashar Ali 🐘 (@yashar) November 4, 2017
All of these revelations brought back an old memory about the abuse of power in the arts. In college, I dated a woman who was studying voice. She told me that many students were pressured into sex with older, celebrated performers, believing that compliance was necessary to get ahead. She denied that she had ever done so. This was in the opera and classical music worlds, and the exploitation was both hetero and gay.
About 10 years after college I learned that she had a reasonably successful professional career and had gotten married to a very successful performer who was about 25 years her senior. Sure. it could have been true love, but I do remember wondering about how it began.
