Announcing that he will run for the presidency, arch-conservative Senator Sam Brownback said that he is 'taking the first steps on the yellow brick road to the White House.'
An interesting choice of words for the anti-gay Senator from Kansas.
A former Methodist, Brownback converted to Catholicism in 2002 through an Opus Dei priest, although Brownback did not become a member of that controversial conservative Catholic society.
According to an article in WaPo, one of Brownback's key supporters is Domino's Pizza pizza founder, and power Catholic, Tom Monaghan. In addition to being the founder a pizza chain, Monaghan is the founder of Legatus, an ultraconservative Catholic organization that limits membership to Catholic CEO's who are trying to squeeze their obese camels through the eye of a needle. Monaghan is also the founder of the controversial Florida town of Ave Maria.
