Sergeant James Kuehnlein of the Saint George, Missouri Police Department has been suspended without pay for threatening to bring false charges against 20-year-old driver, Brett Darrow. Saint George Police Chief Scott Urhig is quoted in the St. Louis Post Dispatch today:
"I was very displeased when I saw the actions on the video," Uhrig said. "My officers are not trained and taught to act like that."
Darrow recorded Kuehnlein's threatening tirade with a secure source video system hidden in his car. It is reasonably safe to assume that Darrow would have been arrested on false charges while Kuehnlein would not have faced disciplinary charges if not for the incriminating video.
Several bloggers posted the video yesterday. The suspension was announced after Chief Uhrig received over 300 telephone calls asking what he intended to do about Kuehnlein's misconduct.
