A lot of Southern professionals do that, myself included. The way I speak I'm "on duty" with a patient, or another professional is different than when I'm with my friends hanging out on my patio tossing back margaritas. My Texas drawl is thickest though when I'm speaking to my 80-something grandmother. That phenomenon might make for some interesting psycholinguistics research.
