McCain says we're all Georgians. And I guess the British invasion of the Falklands in 1982 made us all Argentines. Remember that invasion? The Falklands lay 300 miles off the coast of Argentina (8000 miles from England) which claimed the territory as its own. After Argentina sent troops to South Georgia (not a typo) to secure its claim, the Brits invaded to rescue Falklanders who did not see themselves as Argentines.
In a way, I almost feel sorry for McCain. He's been reduced to borderline buffoonery by a party that has deliberately courted voters who are deeply suspicious of careful deliberation and critical thinking. The man who once attacked the "self appointed" leaders of the religious right as "agents of intolerance," has allowed himself to become a virtual prisoner of an anti-science, anti-intellectual constituency that thinks fist-pumping and woofing sounds are a good starting point for foreign policy.
