West Side Park (AKA West Side Grounds) was home to the Chicago Cubs from 1893-1915. Built on a site now occupied by the University of Illinois (Chicago) Medical Center, the park could accommodate 16,000 fans. A bit of local lore: The expression out in left field or out of left field originated with Chicagoans referring to a psychiatric hospital that stood outside the left field fence.
