It was a good post. Glad you shared the link. And agree with her message about what people need versus what feel good !@#$ they want from therapy. As Eliot said"Humankind cannot bear very much reality".

As to the show? We don't have HBO so I try not to read too many spoilers until the library gets the DVDs (if they ever do). ITunes had the first 15 episodes for free for a while to (cunning plan) get one hooked...

.Good Hillman quote too. Tho, sadly, family life tends to be full of betrayals by people one doesn't really trust, but (as per Allen, we need the eggs) and so we are still shocked when we hear the malevolent hiss and know we are in deep trouble.

As you note, the rise and fall are one and the same. What the tree was all about (and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what else that is). Prometheus' Fire partially. Gnosis. One could use the dread concepts beginning with p, but that would be tiresome. The knowledge of good and evil is about the loss of innocence, like a bloody, agonizing birth. Can't go home. Or that Joplin line about freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose. Actually, I've never understood the nostalgia for Eden and the utter safety and peace and harmony. Boring to me.
