hate to say it but I have to agree. But it is even more poorly designed in the inside. That is the real tragedy. It is an awful library.

Seattle also has one of those libraries that win architects awards but are not designed for readers. I hated having it as our main library before we moved back to Chicago.

Not everything has to look like the reading room at the NYC main public library - BUT architects should take readers into account. There is a reason why I love to go to the Newberry to work on my dissertation even though they have almost no psychology material: The place is designed for readers. It encourages reading.
