Thanks for the nod; consciousness, language, free will, fiction, even lies (perhaps especially lies)--all appear to be part of the same bundled skill set.

Two possible hazards: our metaphors, like our machines, sometimes become so potent as to control their creators; and while freedom is (must be considered) real, the very effortless fluency of language often convinces us that we have more freedom than we actually do ("easier said than done").
