Our power was restored on Friday morning, though I understand that some homes are still without electricity today, Day Four. A lot of damage was done in 10 minutes and the cleanup continues.
Over the last few days, cafes with power were swamped by customers recharging laptops and phones. My netbook holds a charge for several hours, and I use a 4G connection, so I had internet access the entire time.
In the end, two tornadoes touched down in the suburbs--one in Mount Prospect and the other in Downers Grove. Although sirens were blaring through much of Cook County, the tornado sirens were silent in the towns where the tornadoes actually struck. D'oh!
