HOUSE BILL NO. 150
1 AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT FOR ALL OFFICIAL PURPOSES WITHIN THE
2 STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE BODY OF WATER LOCATED DIRECTLY SOUTH OF
3 HANCOCK, HARRISON AND JACKSON COUNTIES SHALL BE KNOWN AS THE “GULF
4 OF AMERICA”; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES
5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
6 SECTION 1. For all official purposes within the State of
7 Mississippi, the body of water that is located directly south of Hancock,
8 Hancock, Harrison and Jackson Counties shall be known as the “Gulf
9 of America.”
10 SECTION 2: This act shall take effect and be in force from
11 and after July 1, 2012.
Yes, the bill proposes that the Gulf of Mexico shall be known as the Gulf of America in the State of Mississippi.
