Found at Joe DePinto's page. Joe grew up in Brooklyn, a couple of blocks from where I was born and lived the first few months of my life. My mother's family continued to live in that home for much of my childhood, so I was there every weekend. On summer evenings, we could stand at the top of the front stairway (the stoop) and see the fireworks display off in the distance at Coney Island.
A photo of the house I lived in during my first few months is below the fold.
It's the house in the center of the Google Street image below. It had three apartments. An aunt, uncle and their kids lived in the top floor apt. Grandmother, aunt, uncle and kids were on the middle floor; and my parents, my brother and I were in the basement apartment.
The house didn't look quite so charming way back when. It's all Yupped up now.
