Actually the pronunciation is soh-LAY-chee-toe. The "ci" diphthong has the "ch" sound and is dependent on succeeding vowel - think ciao (Chow) or da Vinci (veen CHEE).
For those who read Dark Heart of Italy by Tobias Jones, this is not a surprising outcome. The Italian criminal system has historically been rigged and not concerned with justice per se, but with appearances.
