dadgummit - my preference of "sotu what time will it end" didn't show up!

Has there ever been a SOTU speech that was really about the supposed subject?

I stopped watching years ago. I figure if there's anything said that actually matters, I'll hear about it.

For some unknown reason (perhaps stubborn tradition) I watch each one (if reasonably possible).

This one, much like most of them, was quite predictable, including the nauseatingly maudlin, and execrably saccharine, tribute to an injured war veteran.

I have nothing but respect for this man that gave all but his life for our country, but nothing but contempt for the president and the room full of politicians that played "who can applaud the longest".

I'm not saying that Obama doesn't also respect this man's sacrifice, but there is no denying that he used this "tribute" as a dramatic device to end this political speech.

Lance,

I just find all of it unbearable.
