I finally got around to downloading all of my Flickr photos in their original sizes, about 1800 images or 3 1/2 Gigs worth. The download took a couple of hours using an automatic downloader, but now I have them all saved to a single, local folder. Previously, they were scattered among many folders corresponding with batch transfers from camera to laptop.
I also copied another 40 Gigs of photos from the old laptop to the new. Some are old family photos and some are my own scanned film photos, but most are shots I've taken since picking up my first digital point and shoot circa 2002.
The transfer was time consuming, and I'm glad to be done with it. The next project is a review of my 40 Gig collection to eliminate duplicates and bad shots. I'll also title images for more efficient image searching.
After that, I'll probably work on a few themed photo books. I can do that directly through Flickr, but I'd like to look at other options before I choose.
