Warned by US Intel that Rudy Giuliani was working as an active or unwitting Russian asset, John Botlon told his staff not to participate in meetings or conversations that included the former New York City mayor. The Daily Beast:
Former National Security Adviser John Bolton repeatedly told his staff to actively remove themselves from conversations and meetings with Rudy Giuliani after Bolton received warnings from intelligence officials that the president’s personal lawyer was propagating conspiracy theories that aligned with a Russian operation to undermine the 2020 presidential election. Bolton even warned his subordinates to avoid meetings in which Giuliani or his agenda might be raised.
According to three sources with direct knowledge of the situation, Bolton told his team not to attend an Oval Office meeting May 23, 2019 with President Donald Trump following the inauguration of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The meeting, over Bolton’s objections, included former European Union Ambassador Gordon Sondland, former Energy Secretary Rick Perry, deputy national security adviser Charles Kupperman, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and ex-Special Envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker. In the meeting, Trump told the group to “talk to Rudy,” who did not attend, about setting up a White House visit with Zelensky. Two sources said that the May directive from Bolton followed a series of warnings not to participate in meetings where Giuliani may attend.
US Intel specifically warned that Russia had hacked into the systems of the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma, and was actively plotting to "leak" forged emails mixed with genuine emails in the weeks leading into the 2020 election. Both the White House and the House Intelligence Committee knew of the plot, according to 11 sources with knowledge of the scheme.
This news comes as Rupert Murdoch's NY Post ran an incredibly fishy story this week about leaked Hunter Biden emails.
In the story, it was alleged that an unknown man who spills a lot brought three laptops with liquid damage into a Delaware Mac repair shop owned by a man who happens to be a hardcore Donald Trump supporter. But the man only left one laptop that happened to have a sticker with the name Hunter Biden printed on the outside of the laptop because we all affix our names to the outside of our laptops when we anonymously drop them off for repair.
The mysterious laptop left for repair just happened to be important enough to repair but not important enough for the man to pick up from the shop. So the laptop happened to become the property of the Trump-loving Mac repair shop owner, and this unimportant laptop just happened to have incriminating Burisma emails saved on it. Then the Trumpster-supporting repairman thought to himself: I'll copy these emails and send them to Rudy Giuliani, who has for the last two years been ghoulishly claiming that he would have bombshell information on Hunter Biden-Burisma.
That's one explanation of events.
Applying Occam's razor, there is a simpler explanation. The Russians did exactly what US intel had been warning they would do: they would "leak" a mixture of hacked Hunter Biden-Burisma emails and incriminating forged Biden emails for release in the weeks leading up to the 2020 election.
Whether Giuliani, who has been hanging with Russian-linked Ukrainian criminals for several years is an active Russian asset or a motivated dupe isn't clear yet.
National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien warned Trump that Rudy was a Russian disinfo target as he galavanted around the Ukraine meeting with Ukrainians tied to Russia. Trump didn't care.
There s no moral principle, no force of conscience, that reigns in Donald Trump's naked pursuit of self-interest.
